Flood ban relief; Club vs. Fire Dept: This week in Snoqualmie Valley history

Thursday, Feb. 18, 1988
• Snoqualmie city officials met with Governor Booth Gardner last week to seek some relief from the floodway building ban imposed by the Legislature two years ago. Approximately 500 Snoqualmie homes are located in the floodway — 40 percent of all the homes in the city.
• They’re going to have to hang a big red ribbon along the school district borders if this kind of thing keeps happening. The district 410 school board had heard it before: a request from a parent to be transferred into the Lake Washington School District.
Thursday, Feb. 21, 1963
• There will probably be more jokes than baskets made on Saturday, Feb. 23, when the Fall City Kiwanis Club goes into battle with the Fall City Fire Department in their third annual basketball game. It seems that the firemen have a slight edge in both age and ability, having two straight victories against their competitors, but the good old Kiwanians promise to make those baskets somehow, even if they have to use a step-ladder.
