Dr. Wren Hudgins, an amateur mycologist, or mushroom expert, hosts a short talk and walk in the woods, all about edible fungi.
The event is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, at the Cedar River Watershed Education Center. It looks at identification, location and cooking techniques of wild mushrooms, chanterelles in particular.
Cost is $15. Bring lunch and a drink, dress for the weather, wear sturdy walking shoes, and be prepared for uneven terrain. Optional but helpful items include a loupe or magnifying glass, and a camera/notebook. The event is for people age 15 and older.
