North Bend youth drummer hits hard in competition

Nate Vasquez, a North Bend resident, is going places thanks to his skill on the skins.

The drummer took part in the Guitar Center stores’ Drum Off 2010 competition. Vasquez won in preliminary competition Oct. 7 in the Kirkland Guitar Center, following up with a win Thursday, Oct. 14, in store finals in Kirkland. He finished at districts, Thursday, Nov. 4, in Seattle.

Vasquez is self-taught and has been playing for four years.
