Olympic withdraws pipeline proposal
Olympic Pipe Line Company withdrew its bid to build a
cross-Cascades pipeline that would have spanned 230 miles from
Woodinville to Pasco through several Valley communities.
Olympic officials said it was important for the company to focus
its efforts on the investigation of the explosion that killed three boys
in Bellingham.
Opponents of the pipeline called Olympic’s withdrawal a
“bittersweet victory.” Cascade Columbia
Alliance officials said they would continue to work toward establishing
pipeline safety regulations and standards.
Former administrator filed suit
Brian Olson, the former North Bend city administrator, filed two
tort claims against an Idaho county and city for $10 million over his
firing from an administrative job there. Olson listed 93 people and
agencies he claimed conspired to wrongfully charge him with felony domestic
violence charges, to commit grand theft from his property and make him
lose his job as city manager.
The claims follow Olson’s firing last December after he was
accused of punching and kicking his girlfriend.
Parking fee increased
Officials at Mount Si High raised the parking fee from $5 to $35 a
year in response to the growing numbers of students and cars.
The plan included assigning specific stalls to students and hiring a
security officer to patrol the lot.
