Valley shows WASL improvement

Snoqualmie Valley School District students showed mixed results on the 2007 state WASL test. Portions of the Washington Assessment of Student Learning test are required for graduation, the rest serves as a measure of success.

Test scores are climbing, butthere is room for improvement.

Snoqualmie superintendent Joel Aune said he is pleased with the newly released test results for the Valley, but also sees room for improvement.

“I don’t think we’re where we want to be,” Aune said. “But we’re getting there.”

At 10th grade, 90 percent of students are passing the reading section, 92 percent are passing the writing section. However, only 57.5 percent of students are passing the math section. In the science section, which does not count toward their high-school diploma, only 35.4 percent are passing.

In the reading section, 84 percent of middle-school students were meeting standards, 85.5 percent were passing writing and nearly 71 percent were passing math.
