The Snoqualmie Indian Tribe’s reservation is growing.
Last month, the U.S. Department of the Interior approved the acquisition of 7.6 acres of land in trust to the Tribe. Bureau of Indian Affairs Regional Director Stan Speaks signed off on acquisition of the “View Acre” parcel, located directly north of the current reservation property in King County and south of Southeast 86th Street.
The new addition brings the Snoqualmie reservation to just under 64 acres in size.
The Snoqualmie Tribe has declared that its newly-acquired land, currently undeveloped, will remain open to conserve natural resources.
“For the time being, it is a buffer,” said Snoqualmie Tribe Administrator Matt Mattson.
