Seeking serenity in a soda

Entrepreneurs Brandon and Samantha Pitts of North Bend are expanding the boundaries of soda pop.
The Pitts moved to the Valley a year ago from Spokane to build up the local presence of their company, ZenMaster, and its signature product, Serenity soda.
The idea behind Serenity, Samantha said, was to offer an anti-stress soda. Flavors like blackberry cream, honey-ginger ale and strawberry-rhubarb are combined with an amino acid supplement called L-Theanine, thought to reduce stress and promote well-being.
“They have a function other than tasting good,” she said. “It works when you’re having a bad day.”
Brandon has been in the health food industry for 10 years and wanted to come up with something that was unique in the soda market.
