Open House July 14 at Snoqualmie’s New Fire Hall
The new Fire Hall in Snoqualmie is the newest
and latest building in town and the residents point to it
with pride, for it’s one of the finest to be found anywhere.
It didn’t just drop down out of nowhere; there is a big
story behind the construction of it.
To better understand and appreciate the heroic
efforts exerted by the volunteer firemen on the project,
be sure to attend the Open House on Saturday, July 14,
from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. and from 8 p.m. on till the close of
the evening. There will be doughnuts and coffee served
at all times. There’ll be a darkened corner reserved for
the showing of firefighting movies during the afternoon.
Dance That Night
Plans for the evening include a dance beginning at
8 p.m. Shinner Electric will install a television set so
that folks can dance to the music of Lawrence Welk from
8 to 9 p.m. There will also be “canned” music to carry
on from there. The truck will be rolled out to make
room for the trippers of the “light fantastic.”
Of course the fellows are the first to admit that
the building is far from finished, but what has been
done, has been done well. It may be several years before it
is entirely completed.
They gratefully acknowledge the wonderful assistance given by the following: Wm. Blaisdell on
building construction, Fred Mason for doing the wiring and
supplying the materials at cost, Walt Everett for
installing the septic tank and other outside work, Moffat
Distributing Company for supplying the furnace at less
than cost price, George Bichich for the installation work,
John Meyers for the work of making the ducts for the
furnace and doing the installation, and Bill Stoddard
for the painting.
Others who gave their time and labor were: Ed
Tarp, H.K. Whaley, Carroll McGuire, Elmer Sater and
Anton Stekly.
It’s Not Too Late
If other local fellows have been meaning to get around to working on the project, Chief Martin
Fringer points out that it is not too late — there is a great
deal left to do on the building. But time and the
willingness of the people will take care of that.
To date the building fund has reached the total
of $4,221.00 and the remaining amount owed on the
building is approximately $2,779.00. Latest donations
received come from: Dr. M.A. Tennant, Mrs. Andrew Landforce, Orville Graves, F.H. Harding, Paul
Fleming, W.F. Adcox, J.W. Bracken, Cub Larson, and
Grover Hearing.
Inspection of the new equipment will be
interesting for all, and everything will be on display. From the
small boys on up to the adults, the equipment will be
surrounded like a honey jar with flies around it. The
operation and use of the equipment will be explained.
First aid instructor Wilbur Fitch will show the lifesaving
apparatus carried by the fire department.
