Foundation awards innovative ideas

The Riverview Educational Foundation (REF) awarded $5,000
in grants for various projects in the district.
The group, which was founded in 1991, was formed to enhance
educational opportunities for the students.
This year’s grants were given to the following projects:
Plant propagation station
Cedarcrest High
Equipment to grow and supply plants for biochemical testing
and photosynthesis studies.
Cedarcrest High TV – Production/Cinema
Cedarcrest High
Materials for the students’ weekly entertainment/information
television show.
“Home of the Thunderbirds” mural
Tolt Middle School
Materials and supplies for students to paint a mural for the school’s
gym to enhance school spirit.
Native plant garden
Tolt Middle School
Provide plants and seeds that will be used for a hands-on study of
native plants.
Enhancing Amateur Radio at Stillwater (EARS)
Stillwater Elementary
New radio antenna to provide greater ranges of frequency and
band capability to broaden student experience in the radio program.
Storytelling materials
Carnation Elementary
Hands-on materials for students to enliven storytelling.
Portable sound system
Carnation and Stillwater elementaries
Equipment that enables voice amplification during physical
education, intramural and extracurricular classes.
Non-verbal communication project
Cherry Valley and Stillwater elementaries
A lending library to provide adaptive communication equipment
for special needs students.
Ways to cope, succeed and live
Tolt Multi-Age
Lab tools and supplies to enable physical and behavioral analysis
of how animals adapt to the environment.
Concert chimes
All schools
Musical set to complete band instrumentation and expand
study/experience of standard instrumental literature.
