Department of Licensing prepares for New Year

Published 3:16 pm Thursday, October 2, 2008

The Snoqualmie office of the Washington State Department of

Licensing has issued the following statement concerning the approaching

New Year and I-695 impacts:

With the passing of I-695, DOL is working very hard to comply with

this new law and get it working by January 2000.

Those of you who renew in January and February should be

receiving billing forms with the new fees listed. Those of you who chose to park

your cars and wait to get the new lower rates will not receive a billing, but we

will be able to process your renewal with your license plate number.

Please remember that if you are buying tabs for a friend or relative,

you must have a note from that person giving you permission to buy the tabs

and must have a check from that person or cash.

We are expecting very long lines that first week and are doing a

couple of things to help us all get through the hassle ahead of us.

1. Jan. 3 through 7, our office will be open an extra hour for your

convenience, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

2. We will not be transferring titles Monday and Tuesday Jan. 3 and 4.

It takes so much more time than a renewal and we feel our priority at

that time will be to get as many renewals processed as we can. We will

start doing transfers again on Wednesday, Jan. 5. If this will put you over the

15-day time limit, give us a call and we’ll see what we can work out.

We are located in the Sno Falls Credit Union at the corner of Hwy.

202 and Meadowbrook Way in Snoqualmie. Or, you can reach us

by phone at (425) 888-4004.

We hope that you will be patient with us as we try to work through

an interesting transition in the licensing world.

Thanks for your help!
