‘Cats sending large number to state

The Mount Si boys’ and girls’ track teams will be sending 17 participants to the state meet to be held in Pasco May 25 and 26. Five of the participants will be going as Sea-King district champions.
Leading the list of champions is Frank McLaughlin, who won the 400 in a time of 49.77, a new school record. McLaughlin also placed fourth in the 200 to earn a trip to state in that event. The other boys’ champions were Keith Keller, who threw the javelin 184 feet for first place, and Josh Davis, who won the discus with a throw of 159 feet. Davis also placed third in the shot with a toss of 49 feet, 7 inches to earn a trip to state in that event.
For the girls, Tephra Brune won the discus with a personal best throw of 113 feet, 10 inches to earn a Sea-King championship. Joining Brune as a district champion was Stephanie Burk, who lept to a height of 5 feet, 1 inch to win the high jump event.
