Sprague awarded statewide scholarship
Jodi Sprague of Carnation was among the 146 high school, skill
center, and community and technical college students chosen as recipients
of the 2000 Washington Award for Vocational Excellence (WAVE) by
the Workforce Training and Education Coordinating Board.
WAVE provides recipients a tuition grant for six quarters or four
semesters of undergraduate study at community and technical colleges,
the state’s regional and research universities, accredited independent
colleges, or licensed private vocational schools based in Washington state.
WAVE honors three students in each of the state’s 49 legislative
districts for outstanding achievement, leadership and community service
in vocational-technical education.
CWU announces winter graduates
Two Valley residents graduated from Central Washington
University at the end of Winter Quarter 2000.
Shawnna Jackson of Fall City earned a bachelor’s degree in
biology and Si Oliveres earned a bachelor’s degree in leisure services.
Mount Si presents `Guys and Dolls’
Thirty-six Mount Si High students will perform in the hit Broadway
show “Guys and Dolls” on May 5, 6, 11,
12 and 13. All performances will begin at 7:30 p.m.

Chief Kanim presents `Bye Bye Birdie’
Chief Kanim will present the rock and roll musical comedy “Bye
Bye Birdie” on June 3, 9 and 20.
