The Wildcats went to Mercer Island Tuesday, Dec. 4, and saw why the Islanders are considered among the best in the league this season. Despite strong efforts from Zander Nelson and Tyson Riley, Mount Si fell behind big early and took another tough loss, 76-53, to the Islanders. Nelson scored 16 points and Riley had 13 to pace the Wildcats, who were down 34-15 at the half and could not recover.

Mount Si came home Friday, Dec. 7, and met the Liberty Patriots for the first time since Liberty ended the Wildcats’ season in the Kingco tournament play-in game last season. After two tough losses to open the league schedule, Mount Si was looking to get on the right track. Thanks to some solid play, especially in the clutch, that’s exactly what happened.

In front of a good-sized crowd at the high school, Tanner Riley scored a game-high 17 points as the Wildcats rallied for a 54-50 win which put their record at a good 2-2 going into this week’s action.

“It was terrific. We all played great; it was an exciting game,” said Mount Si coach Jeff D’Ambrosio.
