Softball

JV downs Totems

The Mount Si JV fastpitch team picked up its first win by a score of 9-2 over Sammamish last week. The ‘Cats scored in four different innings as Amy Ayers, Brianna Campbell, Sophie Hart and Kali Walker accounted for all of the team’s runs.

Campbell led the girls’ team offensively with four hits, including two doubles and five RBIs while Samantha Riley blasted a double and a triple for four RBIs.

‘Cats come from behind

The Mount Si JV fastpitch softball team stole a victory from Liberty with an amazing come-from-behind effort. Earlier in the season the Patriot team defeated the girls by a score of 16-4 in a practice game.

Behind 4-0 in the bottom of the fourth, Faith Huterson, Kali Walker and team captain’s Camille Weber and Sophie Hart each scored as Mount Si took advantage of an error, a walk, Weber’s long double and Samantha Riley’s blast up the middle, to tie the game 4-4. The Patriots rallied scoring seven more runs but Mount Si would not be denied.

Down 12-7 in the bottom of the seventh inning, six Wildcats scored as key hits were made by Lynnae McKiernan, Amy Ferree, Weber and Hart. Brittni Mortensen and Alicia Elmore each scored important runs. Hart tied the game as she barely beat the throw to home on a passed ball, and Riley scored the win ning run off of McKiernan’s second hit of the inning. Six different girls plated RBIs in a real team effort. McKiernan pitched a complete game and picked up the win.
