Cats fall to Issaquah

The Mount Si JV volleyball team fell to Issaquah last week in two games, 16-25 and 15-25. Corianne Castagno had five digs, Miranda Pratt had three kills, Rachel Brun had 10 digs and Shelby Martin had two kills.

Mount Si defeats Interlake

Behind Heather Klewin’s four kills, 19 assists and five aces, the Mount Si volleyball team defeated Interlake last week 25-12 and 25-21. Amy Ayers had six digs, Brittany Cragin had six digs, Corianne Castagno had seven kills and two aces, Nicole Soroka had six digs and Rachel Brun had five kills and five aces.

‘C’ team defeats Issaquah

The Mount Si “C” volleyball team swept the Issaquah Eagles last week with a three-game, 25-20, 25-19 and 18-16 win. The entire team contributed to the win.

JV beats Mercer Island

The Mount Si JV boys tennis team played their best match of the season last week with a 11-4 win over Mercer Island. Derek Aldrich, Joshua Williams and Kyle Tjossen won their singles matches. The teams of Isaac Farrar/Jesse Ransavage, Scott Bopavion/Stephan Salmon, Andrew Klausing/Matt Lynne, Adam Dalman/Kevin Sandin, Aldrich/Ryan Schwab and Tjossen/Garrett Morck won their doubles matches.

Tennis

JV falls to Bellevue

The Mount Si JV boys tennis team came up against a strong Bellevue team last week and lost. The team of Nick Schwarzmiller and Kevin Walsh were the only doubles winners as they posted an 8-5 score. Joshua Williams won his singles match 8-5, as did teammate Ryan Schwab, also by a score of 8-5. Finally, Isaac Farrar won his singles match 8-5.

Cross Country

Several runners improve their times

The Mount Si cross country team hosted Issaquah, Liberty and Mercer Island last week in a four-way meet. It was the final meet before this week’s Kingco championships at Lake Sammamish State Park.

Sophomore standout Katie Hogan busted out with a strong start in her race. She kept taking on the next runner to finish seventh out of 65 participants and did it in a record time of 20:33.

Tammy Weir also had a great race, finishing for the first time this season.

For the boys, Brad Allen had an outstanding race, breaking the 17 minute barrier with a time of 16:54. Thomas Goble, following close behind, ran a 17:01. Owen Strom and Drake daPonte ran 17:09 and 17:10 respectively.
