Cedarcrest falls to Interlake

The Red Wolves’ soccer team lost a close one to the Interlake Saints

last week, 1-0. The only goal came at the 20-minute mark of the first period

on a pass from the Saints’ Mike Haughton to Daniel De Angelis. It was the

second league loss for the Red Wolves who are at the bottom of the

KingCo 3A Valley division.

Red Wolves

The Cedarcrest Red Wolves hosted the Newport Knights softball team

last week but unfortunately fell short in the scoring department, 3-2.

Leading the offensive efforts for the Red Wolves was Emily

Anderson who went 2-for-4. Pitching for the Red Wolves was Danielle Brittain who

was impressive, notching two strikeouts.

`Cats fall in non-league play

The Mount Si Wildcat varsity tennis team fell in non-league

competition last week to KingCo 4A Lake Washington, 9-0.

In singles play Ariah Nobe lost to Lake Washington’s Inna Goreshnik

in two sets, 6-1 and 6-1. Teammate Lauren Berndt faced a similar

fate, losing in two sets, 6-2 and 6-1. The Wildcat’s Amber Bliven lost to

Erica Deposit in two sets, 6-2 and 6-3. Mount Si’s Christina Boals lost

to Krista Jacobs, 6-0 and 6-0. And Emily Pizzuto and Crystal DiCarlo had

similar results, both losing in two sets.

In doubles play it was all Lake Washington as the pairs of

Berndt-Boals, Nobe-Bliven and Jessii Raisio and Elise Ellison were all defeated.

`Cats drop first match

The Wildcat women’s golf team lost their first match of the season

to Cedarcrest last week, 297 _ 289. Jessica Scalzo had the lowest score

for the night, taking home medallist honors.

“C” team falls

to Garfield

The Mount Si “C” soccer team fought hard last week but the

Tigers of Garfield managed to sneak by four goals. Brandon Dollinter scored

the only `Cat goal in the 4-1 loss.

JV soccer team thumps Red Wolves

Taking to the field for their first home game of the season, the

Mount Si Wildcat JV soccer team walloped their Lower Valley rivals, 11-0.

The Wildcats displayed great team skills as they passed the ball and

dominated the entire game. Scoring for Mount Si were Pete Talevich with

four, Evan Lamon with three, Mike North with two, Ryan Lennihan with one

and Nick Martindale with one. Working as keeper, Brandon Meidinger

worked with the defense to notch a shut out.

JV soccer goes undefeated

The Mount Si Wildcat soccer team defeated the Sammamish Totems,

4-1 last week. Evan Lamon scored the first goal for the `Cats followed by

Pete Talevich who scored goal number two.

Later in the game, Andy Divers made a great cross to Lamon for

the team’s third goal. Then Nick Martindale punched one in after

a cross-pass from Brad Falcon.

`Cats JV softball thumps Totems

The Mount Si JV softball team dominated the Sammamish

Totems, winning 21-4. Sophomore Megan Alexander pitched a great game

giving up only two hits. Offense for Mount Si was led by Tabitha

Albertson with a grand slam home run and a single. Also contributing were

Rachel McNaul with two singles, Nicole Anderson, Jessica Rasmussen,

Anika Engebretsen and Mary Lee all recording singles.

JV Tennis drops match

The Mount Si JV tennis team lost a tough match to KingCo 4A

Lake Washington last week 3-6. Winning their singles matches were

Jenae Stauch 8-2; Ashley Sherrid and Angela Jones, 8-3.

JV Girls softball notches second win

Behind the pitching of Anika Safstrom, the Mount Si girls JV

softball team won their second game in a row, 7-4, over the Newport

Knights. Vanessa Riley led the Wildcats with two hits followed by

Tabitha Albertson, Mary Lee and Kristen Travis who all had singles.

`Cats do well

in Bremerton

The Mount Si women had several outstanding performances at

the Bremerton relays last weekend. The pole vault relay of Cari Smith,

Emily Verbon and Cari Frantz placed first with a combined height of 19′ 6″.

The high jump relay of Heather Breitenbach, Callen Gaston and

Maria Lynch placed second with a total of 13’8″.

Verbon placed fourth in the 100 hurdles with a time of 17.8

seconds. The sprint medley of Breitenbach, Jessica Hanna, Ashley Wiegardt and

Franzt placed seventh overall. The distance medley of Sheena Kern,

Katie Childs, Lillian Lazenby and Melissa Warren placed eighth.

` Cats take Interlake

The Mount Si varsity soccer team traveled to Interlake last week

and came home with their second league win, 3-0. Leading the offensive

efforts for the Wildcats was Seth Holub who had eight shots on the goal for

the night with two finding the net at the 50-minute and 63-minute

marks. Drew Arenth had two shots on goal with his first finding the net at

the seven-minute mark. Arenth also recorded one assist. Other shots on

goal were recorded by Robert Joregenson, Tony Baldwin, Brett Bergstrom

and Jed McDaniels. Kasey Robinson had five saves for the night.

Totems edge `Cats

Mount Si traveled to Sammamish last week but came home with a

disappointing 1-0 loss to Sammamish. Seth Holub again led the

offensive efforts with five shots on the goal

but none of them found net. Robert Jorgenson, Tony Baldwin,

Drew Arenth, Adam Erickson and Jeff Winter also took shots at the goal.

The Totems only score of the game came at the 58-minute mark when

Phil Johnson pounded one through.

Mount Si drops squeaker

The Mount Si varsity baseball team traveled to Bannerwood park

for a late game last Thursday. But due to a law limiting how late a game can

be played, the lights were turned out at 11 p.m. forcing the end to the

game and handing the Wildcats a 12-11 loss.

Mount Si came out swinging in the first two innings, pounding the

Newport pitcher for nine runs. The Knights came back in the bottom of the

second, then added five more in the third to take a one run lead, going into

the fourth. Mount Si tied the game at 10 each in the top of the fourth, but

the Knights added two of their own to take a 12-10 lead. The Wildcats could

only muster one run in the top of the fifth, then Sean Meehan blanked

the Knights. Not able to get another offensive round in for the sixth, the

Wildcats were stuck with the loss.

Leading the offensive efforts for Mount Si was Tyler Osborne

who went 3-for-4 with two runs. Joey Adams went 1-for-2 and

recorded three runs and two RBIs. Pitching for Mount Si was Sean Sattler who

went 2.2 innings, gave up seven hits, 10 runs seven of which were earned,

walked six batters and had two strike outs. Jason Donah had 1.1 innings in,

gave up no hits, two runs – neither of which were earned – four walks and had

one strike out. Meehan came in as the closer and gave up one walk and

recorded one strike out.
