‘Cat girls fall to Cougars

The Bothell Cougars defeated the Mount Si Wildcat girls’ basketball team last week, 64-53. Bothell built up an 18-point lead two minutes into the fourth quarter before both teams erupted in a shooting contest. The Cougars won the final quarter, 25-22. Nicci Landdeck scored a game-high 16 points to pace Mount Si.


Two mountains collide, ‘Cats lose

In a game between two teams named after mountains, Mount Rainier took on Mount Si last week in boys’ basketball, winning 66-64. The Wildcats let a 62-62 tie slip away as they fell to 1-2 in the nonleague contest.

Scott Johnson had a layup to tie the game at 62, but Mount Rainier hit four free throws with under 20 seconds remaining to seal the win. Jeremy Johnston had 19 points and nine rebounds to lead Mount Si. Others scoring for the Wildcats were, Logan Ratcliffe with 14; Scott Johnson with 15; Jacob Waggoner with 4; Bryan Gabriel with 8; Joel Hendricks with 2 and John Karlen with 2.


Wildcat girls whallop Peninsula

The Mount Si girls’ varsity basketball team traveled to Peninsula High last week, returning with a victory of 67-35. Nicci Landdeck was unstoppabe, scoring 30 points. Whitney Beyerlin added 11 followed by Karin Brevick with eight.



Cedarcrest wins second

The Cedarcrest boys’ basketball team defeated Foster last week, 56-45. Chris Kracht and Pat Conrick both had eight points in the second half to guide the Red Wolves (2-1) to a nonleague victory. Conrick finished with a game-high 17 points, while Kracht had 14 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Scoring for Cedarcrest were Zack Taylor with 6, Kyle Eldred with 1, Russell McGinnis with 7, Pat Conrick with 17, Chris Kracht with 14, Brian Stephenson with 9 and Isaac Sprague with 2. The record is 2-1.


Mount Si “C” team wins

The Mount Si girls’ “C” basketball team defeated Peninsula last week in a non-league game, 48-30. Leading the scoring for the ‘Cats was Maggie Kuyath with 29 points, followed by Marie Will with six and Emily White with five.


JV team moves to 3-0

Lindsay Logic sparked the ‘Cats with intense defense and good ball movment last week as the Mount Si JV girls’ basketball team defeated Peninsula. Rachel Perrell added a scoring spark and Stephanie Reilly hit some clutch shots down the stretch. Also adding to the win was Amy Keogh and Christie Leatoita.


Red Wolves top Knights

The Cedarcrest Red Wolves wrestling team notched their first league win of the season last week defeating Newport, 41-30.

Wildcats defeat Newport

Freshman Rachel Travis scored 14 points and hauled in 11 rebounds as the Wildcats (1-0) won a hard-fought game against the Knights (0-1), winning 43-37.

“We played the best defense we’ve played in the four years I’ve been here,” Mount Si coach Dirk Hanson said. “To go into Newport and win is incredibly tough because they’re so well-coached.” Nicci Landdeck had 12 points and 15 rebounds for the Wildcats. Others scoring for the ‘Cats were Lizzie Finnegan with nine; Kristen Berndt with six; Landa Pastrana with two; and Rachel Travis with 14.


Wildcats bury Bellevue

The Mount Si Wildcat wrestling team, in their first league meet, absolutely buried Bellevue, 72-3.
