Spring track meets

The Snoqualmie Valley Track Club announces its Spring Sunday Allcomers Track schedule for the upcoming season.

All meets will be held at Chief Kanim Middle School. Meets are family oriented and open to children 3-17. Ribbons will be awarded to all participants. Meets include a variety of running and field events.

Dates for the meets are May 1, from 2 – 4:30 p.m.; May 8 (Special Mother’s Day meet with gifts for all mothers) from 2 – 4:30 p.m.; May 15, 2 – 4:30 p.m. and May 22, from 2 – 4:30 p.m.


Mount Si grad

contributes to win

2001 Mount Si graduate Aaron Svarthumle, a senior baseball player at Pacific University, put the Boxers up for good in the home half of the third, stroking a solo home run to right field in a 3-1 win over Lewis and Clark College recently.

Reynolds has strong meet

Georgia Reynolds, 12, of North Bend, recently competed in the Blooms and Blossoms gymnastics meet. Competing as a level seven gymnast, Reynolds placed fourth in the all-around competition with a score of 36.2. She took first on the vault with a score of 9.75, second on the beam with a score of 8.6 and third on the floor with a score of 8.75. Reynolds competes for Gymnastics East in Preston.

Haakenson sets new record

Dan Haakenson, 2001 Mount Si graduate and senior at Pacific Lutheran University, set a new season best in the hammer event with a throw of 53.79 meters (176 feet, 6 inches) while finishing second at a recent meet.

He also set a new season best in the discus with a throw of 44.06 meters (144 feet, 7 inches) while placing third and also finished third in the shot put with a mark of 12.66 meters (41 feet, 6 1/2 inches).


Hall named academic standout

Laura Hall, of Snoqualmie, was named as an academic standout for the 2004-2005 winter sports season. Hall attends Beloit College in Beloit, Wis. and is on the swim team. She is an international relations major.
