Gymnasts do well at state

The Gymnastics East level five team had an excellent state competition. In the eight and younger class, Mikaelyn Davis of North Bend placed sixth. In the 9-year-old class, Erin Antoch from North Bend took seventh and teammate Emily Woitcheck took 13th. Woitcheck is from Fall City.

In the 10-year-old class, Nicole Trickey from Snoqualmie Pass took first and teammate Hannah Richmond from Fall City took 11th.

In the 11-year-old class, Brooke Bonner from North Bend took fifth.


Local team wins first on vault

The Sno-Valley Gymnastics level four team won first place on vault in the small team division at the 2005 USA Gymnastics Washington State Championships held Dec. 4 at Meydenbauer Center in Bellevue. More than 20 teams and 400 gymnasts from throughout Washington competed at this event. Kira Jerome’s first place on vault with a 9.275 score led to the win of the vault title. The team also placed third on bars, fifth on beam, fourth on floor and received a third-place trophy with the total score of 106.225, trailing Cascade Elite by only .775 behind Cascade Elite Gymnastics (107.000) from Mount Lake Terrace. Coach Yoshi Nakayama said, “We would have made first place easily with Lexi Swanson in our team at the meet. She was still recovering from an injury at that time.”

For individuals, Elyssa Roeder won a silver medal all around with the score of 35.450 in the 9-year-old division. She was second on vault, third on bars, sixth on beam and third on floor. Jennifer Rogers won a bronze medal all around with the score of 34.900 and took third on vault, sixth on bars and third on beam. Nikki Gmerek placed seventh all around (34.475) with sixth on floor. Jerome was 11th all-around (33.975) with second on bars as well as the first place on vault.

In the 10-year-old division, Savannah Morrison won fourth place all around (34.200) with fifth place on bars, fourth place on beam and third place on floor. Carissa Castagno placed ninth all-around (33.075) and tied for second on vault. Elizabeth Holmes placed 10th all around (32.450) and seventh on floor.

Local gymnasts score at state meet

Several gymnasts from the Gymnastics East level four large team posted placing result recently at the state championship held at Meydenbauer Center in Bellevue. The team as a whole took first with 183.75 points. In the 6- and 7-year-old category, Mallory Fortier from Snoqualmie took ninth in all-around with a score of 32.5. She also placed seventh on the floor and second on the vault. In the 8-year-old division, Hailey Johnson took 20th overall with a score of 32.00. She is from North Bend.

In the 9-year-old division, Sarah Wheeler took eighth overall with a score of 34.025. Teammate Amanda Dumont from Preston took 11th overall. Wheeler also placed fourth on the bars with a score of 8.475, and fourth on the floor with a score of 8.800. In the 11-and-older division, Cassidy McDowell of Preston took second in all around with a score of 34.750. She placed first on bar, second on beam and ninth on vault.


Fall City Little League to hold registration

The Fall City Little League is gearing up for another season. The first registration is planned for Jan. 7, at the Fall City Fire Station from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The second registration date is Jan. 8, at the Snoqualmie Fire Station from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Players age 5 through 16 who live in the Fall City area, Snoqualmie Ridge and some neighboring areas are eligible and encouraged to register.
