Lightning hits their mark

The Cascade Select Lightning girls' U-16 team is the District III GU-16 Gold Platinum Champions. The team of girls under the age of 15 team represented the Snoqualmie Valley Youth Soccer Association. They just completed their fall season having played up an age level with a record of 12-0-0 scoring 45 goals and only allowing three. The team is comprised of JV and varsity players from both Cedarcrest High School (Natalie Howard, Haley Clapp, Jackie Taylor, Emily Druschba, Katie Bunker, Jamie Bottman, and Brooke Chapman) and Mount Si High School (Chelsea Howland, Linnea Olson, McKinna Little, Jordyn Wilson, Veca Falcon, Avery Hamann and Caylene Castagno), goalkeeper from Tolt Middle School (Kori Butterfield) and two players from Timbercrest Junior High (Jenae Ghassemieh and Regan McComb). In addition to the fall season, this team played in the 2005 WSYSA Commissioner's Cup through the semi-finals, ending two months of successful play with kicks from the mark, three spring tournaments playing in the semi-finals twice, and three summer tournaments resulting in two first-place finishes and one second-place finish. The team's next endeavor is the 2006 WSYSA Challenge Cup beginning in January.
