Sports Round-up: Football advances; girls soccer fall in quarters

Updates on playoffs for Wildcats Football, Girls Soccer and Volleyball

Girls Cross Country

The state champion Mount Si Girls Cross Country team was honored at a school assembly on Nov. 8. The Wildcats won the state meet on Nov. 4 at the Sun Willows Golf Course in Pasco.

They are Mount Si’s first cross country team – boys or girls – to win the state meet, according to online records from the WIAA. The Wildcats previous best finish was third in 2015.

After a 31-14 victory over Camas High School on Nov. 11, the Mount Si Boys Football Team has advanced to the quarterfinals of the state playoffs.

They will face Kamiakin at home on Nov. 18 at 3 p.m. Winning would set up a semi-final against either Kennedy Catholic or Lake Stevens.

The state final will be held Dec. 2 at Husky Stadium.

Girls Soccer

The Mount Si Girls Soccer team’s season came to an end on Nov. 11.

After a 4-1 victory over Kentridge in the opening round of the state playoffs, the Wildcats fell 2-1 against top-seed Skyline in the quarter finals.

The Mount Si Girls Volleyball team fell one game short of making the state playoffs, losing 3 sets to 1 in a win-and-advance game against Skyline on Nov. 11.
