Sports Preview | League champion Cedarcrest boys basketball bringing it on, again

Every game will be a battle for the Red Wolves’ boys basketball team this season.
“We won league last year, so we kind of have a target on our backs,” said team captain Zach Taylor. Any team trying to unseat the defending league champs, though, will face a team led by Taylor and Dowd, co-captains who set a high standard for themselves and their team.
“Every day, bring it your all,” is senior Chris Dowd’s philosophy. “Don’t leave anything on the court.”
It worked for them last year, when the team won an exciting trip to the state tournament for the first time in years, and they are planning a return trip this March.
As captains, they see their job in two parts: “We just kind of preach what our coach is saying,” says Taylor, and Dowd adds “and make sure everyone’s working hard.” All that hard work pays off in every home game, and a lot of away games, too.
“It’s fun to be on this team,” says Taylor. “Everybody in the whole school supports us. Our fans are pretty much the best in the league.”
