Solid week for golf ‘Cats tackle championship course

The Mount Si High School boys golf team beat Newport on Monday, Sept. 15, 172-189. Jack Kelly and Matt Prewett shared medalist honors for the Wildcats, each firing a round of 31 on the nine-hole Tall Chief Golf Course layout in Fall City.

Mike Rutledge carded a 35 and Bradley Harrelson shot a 37 to pace the Mount Si efforts. Zach Stoddard and Eric Tuschiyama shot rounds of 36 to lead the Knights. Mount Si also got good showings from Bryce Karalus and Luke Dietsch, who each fired a score of 38.

The Wildcats went to Sahalee Country Club in Redmond Thursday, Sept. 18, to take on Eastlake. The two teams finished in a 205-205 tie.

Kelly shot a round of 38 on the course, which has hosted two major pro events in recent years. Kevin Penner fired a 35 to take medalist honors for the Wolves.

Prewett fired a 39 to pace the Mount Si efforts.
