The rough season for the Mount Si Wildcats’ softball team wrapped up last week in their final home game of the season against the top team in the league from Sammamish, and their ace pitcher, Sarah Minice. Aside from a home run by Mount Si’s Katie Shaw, Minice was superb in her final outing at the ‘Cats, as the Totems clinched the Kingco regular season title with an 11-1 five inning win, the game called early due to the 10-run mercy rule.

Minice praised her team. “Well, in the last inning there we definitely showed our depth, so now people know we have it, and everyone was hitting. Our bottom of our lineup was hitting, even when the top of our lineup was struggling, and you can see we can do 11 runs in good or bad weather,” Minice said. What she was initially referring to in her comments was the Totems having to change catchers in the bottom of the fifth after Minice’s regular backstop, catcher Kelsey Hasselblad, was restricted to the Sammamish dugout by umpires following her at-bat in the top of the inning; she had struck out and thrown her bat in disgust.
