than five innings.

The Red Wolves (1-3, 0-2) dropped their first two KingCo

league games last week by a combined score of 39-1. Both games were limited

to only five innings by the league’s 10-run rule.

Last Tuesday at Tolt Field in Carnation, the Wolves fell behind by

four runs in the first inning against a strong squad from Newport. The home

team trailed by only six after three innings, but then the Knights exploded for

11 runs against two Cedarcrest pitchers in the fourth to put the game out

of reach. The game ended after five innings with Newport ahead 19-0.

Senior Marc Medley absorbed the loss. His record is now 0-1.

Two days later the Wolves traveled south to take on Liberty on the

Patriots’ home field in north Renton. The Patriots were not very good hosts

as they scored seven times in the first and added nine more runs in the

third enroute to a 20-1 humbling of the Red Wolves.

Junior Justin Garland was the losing pitcher against Liberty.

Junior Nick Blanchard doubled and scored the only run for Cedarcrest.

Medley and senior Cody Wheeler also doubled for the Red Wolves.

The good news for Cedarcrest is that the pair of losses only

dropped the team into a four-way tie for seventh place in the 10-team

conference. Last week was a week of haves and have-nots in KingCo action.

Four teams ended play on Friday with two wins, another four had a pair of

loses and the remaining two teams split their first week of play.

After taking on top-rated Issaquah on Monday, the Wolves will finish

off the week with a game Wednesday against the Interlake Saints in

Bellevue before returning home to Carnation for a clash with the 1-1 Mount Si

Wildcats on Friday afternoon.
