`Improvement’

is the key word

With two meets completed in two weeks, Mount Si coach Renee

Tredo sees continued improvement among her young squad.

On Thursday, Jan. 13, the team took on Sammamish and

Bellevue. The Totems won the competition with a 162.2; Bellevue placed second

with 157.45 and the Wildcats recorded 99.7.

According to the coach, “Christine Bauman did a great routine and

improved her score by four-tenths of a point. Yolanda Morton did an

awesome job on beam, while Erica Fuller had a personal best score on vault.”

Tredo also singled out Crystal Miller, who competed in a new

vault and improved her score by one point.

Thursday evening, Jan. 20, the Mount Si gymnastics team traveled

to Newport to face the Knights and the squads from Inglemoor

and Sammamish. The host team eked out the win with 165.95 points,

followed by Inglemoor with 164, Sammamish with 159.1 and Mount Si with 112.3.

Tredo rated the team’s effort as “excellent.”

“Erica Fuller did a wonderful first-time bar routine, as well as

Lindsay Loeffler,” she noted. “Christine Bauman also did a great first-time

routine on floor.

“Courtney Schuller and Crystal Miller lit up the floor last night.

Ashley Kraupie `worked’ the bars. Last, Nicole Haustveit and Yolanda

Mortno did an awesome job on the balance beam. Great job girls!”

The ladies return to the floor tonight at Juanita High School

in Kirkland.
