Girls narrowly lose meet
The eighth-grade Snoqualmie Middle School girls track team lost
a close meet with Beaver Lake last week, 55-50. On the road to an
impressive meet, the team recorded eight first-place finishes.
Finishing first for the Lady Eagles were: Kristen Berndt _
75-meter hurdles, 200-meter run and long jump; Kelly Fletcher _ the 400;
Brittanie Griep _ the 1600; Katie Davidson _ discus; the medley relay team
of Danielle Raver, Jesse Conway, Amy Keogh and Cali Fredrichs; and
the 800-meter relay team of Danielle Arthur, Heidi Lee, Griep and Fletcher.
A second-place finish went to Danielle Raver in the long jump.
Third place finishes went to Amy Keogh in the 400, Daniella Plavsky in the
800, Chandra Rappin in the discus and Lisa Fairbanks in the shot put.
SMS seventh-grade girls roll over Beaver Lake
The seventh-grade girls track team notched a win last week, defeating
the Beaver Lake girls, 72-32.
First place finishes went to Mallory Horsch in the
75-meter hurdles and long jump. Whitney Chelgren picked up a first in the
high jump. The 800-meter relay team of Whitney Beyerlin, Horsch,
Natsumi Asanuma and Mandy Eberl also picked up a first.
Second-place finishers were Shannon Kelley in the 75-meter
hurdles, Rebecca Coffey in the 800-meter run, Chelgren in the 200 and
Autumn Dierking in the shot put.
Chelgren also picked up a third in the 100.
Boys track teams drop meet to Beaver Lake
The seventh-and eighth-grade Snoqualmie Middle School boys
track teams lost to Beaver Lake last week despite some impressive
performances.
The eighth-grade boys were led by Michael Keller who placed first in
the 75-meter hurdles with a time of 11.32 seconds. Jarrod Wiegardt placed
second in the 800 meters with a time of 2 minutes 37 seconds. Josiah
Cormier placed second in the 200 with a time of 26.66 seconds and first in the
long jump with a distance of 16-11.
Teammate Nathan Daughtrey took third in the discus with a throw of
90-8 and second in the shot with a distance of 28-6. The team of
Bryan Nichols, Daughtrey, Keller and Cormier recorded a 1:53.25 time in
the 800, good enough for first place.
The seventh-grade boys also put out an impressive showing.
Adam Rothgeb took second in the hurdles with a time of 12.57, second in the
100 with a time of 11.99 and first in the high jump with a leap of 4-4.
Teammate Tom Peterson took first in the 1600 with a time of 5:47
and second in the 800 with a time of 2:50. Rob Jepson took third in the 400
with a time of 1:20.84 while Evan Lloyd took third in the 800 with a time
of 3:05.
Finally, Manch Garhardt took first in the long jump with a distance of
14-3 and second in the shot put with a toss of 28-10.
Alumni game scheduled
The first annual Snoqualmie Middle School Alumni
Basketball Game is scheduled for 7 p.m. on May 12 at Mount Si. The event will
feature SMS alumni attending Mount Si and current SMS students.
One-dollar donations will be accepted at the door with half-time
contests planned, concessions and fun for the whole family. The proceeds
from the event will be used for the school’s first “Back to School Supply
Giveaway.”
