SMS boys end season
Snoqualmie Middle School’s sixth-grade boys track team
ended their season last week with a record of 2 and 1, defeating Chief Kanim,
61-32.
Taking first for the Eagles were Zach Lamb in the 75-meter
hurdles; Kyle Meuli in the 400 meter; Cody Hyatt in the 200 and discus and
Dan Dombrowski in the shot put.
Hyatt, Dombrowski, Lamb and Meuli also joined forces to win the
400 and 800 relays.
Placing second for the Eagles were Michael Jones in the 1600 and
800, Kirk Brown in the 100 and 200, Lamb in the long jump and Dombrowski
in the discus.
Boys track team stampedes Mercer Island
The seventh- and eighth-grade Snoqualmie Middle School boys
track teams defeated Mercer Island with the seventh-graders winning 59-46
and the eighth-graders winning 74-11.
Placing first for the eighth-grade team were Michael Keller in the
75-meter hurdles and 400 meter; Nathan Daughtrey in the 1600 and
discus; Josiah Cormier in the 100, 200, long jump and high jump; Jarrod
Wiegardt in the 800 and Michael Garvonski in the shot put.
Placing first for the seventh-grade team were Tom Peterson in the
1600 and 800; Adam Rothgeb in the 200; Brian Warren in the discus
and Manche Garhart in the shot put and long jump.
The medley relay team of Jason King, Halverson, Warren, and
Rob Jepson also took first, as did the 800-meter relay team of Garhart,
Alex Grazda, Warren and Jepson.
Taking second for the seventh-grade team were Rothgeb in the
75 hurdles and 100; Warren in the 400 and Chris Krona in the discus.
Boys meet has split results
The Snoqualmie Middle School boys track teams battled it out
with Chief Kanim last week, with the seventh-graders winning 52-48 while
the eighth-graders were defeated 48-54.
Firsts for the eighth-grade boys came from Michael Keller in the
75-meter hurdles; Josiah Cormier in the high jump and long jump and
Jarrod Wiegardt in the 800 meter.
The medley relay team of Jacob Guterson, Michael Garvonski,
Corey Schwarzmiller and Wiegardt also took first, as did the 400 relay team
of Bryan Nichols, Nathan Daughtrey, Keller and Cormier.
Second-place eighth-grade finishers were Schwarzmiller in the
1600 and 400 and Daughtrey in the 800, discus and shot put.
Third-place finishers were Guterson in the 100 and Bryan
Nichols in the 200 and long jump.
Seventh-grade first-place finishers were Alex Grazda in the 75
hurdles; Tom Peterson in the 1600 and 800 and Manche Garhardt in the shot put
and 100.
The medley relay team of Jason King, Brian Warren, Rob Jepson
and Evan Lloyd also took first, as did the 800 relay team of Garhardt,
Warren, Jepson and Grazda.
Seventh-grade second-place finishers were Evan Lloyd in the
75 hurdles; Grazda in the 100; Jepson in the 400 and high jump and
Garhardt in the long jump.
Third-place finishers were Lloyd in the 800, King in the 200 and
Warren in the discus.
SMS girls undefeated
The Snoqualmie Middle School sixth-grade track girls ended their
season undefeated as they beat the Chief Kanim Hawks last week, 63-42.
Six new first-place top-10 finishes were recorded with Jessica
Marley holding records in the 100- and 200-meter runs along with teammate
Jordan Tipton in the 75-meter hurdles and long jump. Teresa Horsch holds
the record in the 400 and the relay team of Tipton, Collette Hatch,
Tove Garhart and Marley ran to a record time of 1 minute, .6 seconds in the
400 relay.
Second-place finishers were Robyn Pearson in the 100 and
Lindsey Florence in the 400.
Third-place finishes went to Chelsea Eddings in the 75
hurdles, Horsch in the 400, Tipton in the 200, Allyson Rossman in the shot put
and discus, Linne McElroy in the long jump and Tara Eddings in the
high jump.
All three relay teams placed first.
Girls lose final meet
The Snoqualmie Middle School seventh- and eighth-grade girls
track team lost their final meet of the season due to the sheer size of the
Pine Lake team.
Placing first for the eighth-grade team was Kristen Berndt in the
75-meter hurdles. Berndt also posted a second in the 200 meter and
long jump. Other second-place finishers were Danielle Raver in the 200,
Brittanie Griep in the 1600, Katie Davidson in the discus and
Amy Keogh in the high jump.
The seventh-grade girls were led by Jeanne Frantz with a win in the
400. Finishing second was Mallory Horsch in the long jump, high jump, 200
and 75 hurdles. Taking thirds were Meaghan Dunklee in the hurdles
and Natsumi Asanama in the 400.
The SMS track team will travel to Issaquah High on Thursday, June
1, for the Foothills League Championship Meet. Field events will begin
at 3:15 p.m. followed by running events at 3:30.
