SMS drops meet to Chief Kanim

Snoqualmie’s sixth-grade boys track team raced against pouring

rain, thunderous clouds and Chief Kanim last week losing to all, 40-60.

Taking firsts for SMS were Cody Hyatt in the 200-meter run, discus

and 400-meter relay. Kyle Meuli took first on the medley relay team and

400-meter relay team. Dan Dombrowski took first in the shot put and was

on the winning 400-meter relay team. Zach Lamb was also on the

winning 400-meter relay team.

Placing second for SMS were Hyatt in the 100, Meuli in the 800

and Dombrowski in the 200.

Third-place finishes went to Lamb in the 75-meter hurdles, Jeff

Lommey in the 400, Zach Carlson in the 200 and discus, Brandon Wallace in

the shot put and Kirk Brown in the high jump.

Girls track posts second win

The seventh- and eighth-grade girls track teams from

Snoqualmie Middle School posted their second win of the season last week

against district rival Chief Kanim with the eighth-graders winning 88-10 and

the seventh-graders winning 68-37.

First place for the eighth-graders were Kristen Berndt in the

75-meter hurdles, long jump and 200-meter run. Brittanie Griep placed first in the

1600 while teammate Danielle Raver placed first in the 100-meter dash.

Amy Keogh placed first in the 400 and the high jump and teammate

Kelly Fletcher took first in the 800.

First for the seventh-grade girls started with Malory Horsch in

the hurdles and long jump. Whitney Chelgren took first in the 100 and

200 as well as the high jump. Jeane Frantz took first in the 400 while

teammate Autumn Dierking took first in the shot put.

Second-place finishes for the eighth-grade girls went to

Shara Everett in the 75-meter hurdles, Alice Piccola in the 1600, Danielle

Arthur in the 100-meter dash, Katie Davidson in the 400 and discus,

Daniella Plavsky in the 800, Cali Fredrichs in the 200, Lisa Fairbanks in the shot

put and Heidi Lee in the long jump.

Second-place finishes for the seventh-grade girls went to

Meaghan Duncklee in the hurdles, Rebecca Coffey in the 800, Maggie Kujath

in the long jump and Horsch in the high jump.

Finishing third for the eighth-grade girls were Jesse Conway in

the 100-meter dash, Griep in the 400, Arthur in the 200, Everett in the

discus, Davidson in the shot put and Raver in the long jump. For the

seventh-graders it was Shannon Kelly in the hurdles, Leagh Coffey in the

400, Duncklee in the 200, Dierking in the discus and Frantz in the 100.

All three seventh- and eighth-grade girls relay teams finished first.

SMS’s next meet will be at Mount Si High on Thursday, May 18, to

take on Mercer Island. Meet start time will be 3:30 p.m.

Sixth-grade girls notch win

Posting their second win of the season, the sixth-grade girls

from Snoqualmie Middle School defeated Chief Kanim, 64-31.

Triple winners were Jessica Marley in the 100-meter dash,

200-meter run and the anchor on the 400-meter relay team. Jordan Tipton

was also a triple winner, recording firsts in the hurdles, long jump and also

participating on the winning 400-meter relay team.

Jennifer Daley placed first in both the discus and the shot while

teammate Tove Garhart placed first in the 1600 and was on the 400-meter relay team.

Taking seconds for the team were Teresa Horsch in the 400, long

jump and the high jump; Linne McElroy in the hurdles, she was also a member

of the winning medley relay team; and Robyn Pearson in the 100-meter dash.

Third-place finishers were Chelsea Eddings in the hurdles,

Brianna Campbell in the 200 and Allyson Rossman in the discus.

Collette Hatch was on both the winning 400-and 800-meter

relay teams along with Chelsea Eddings, Lindsey Florence and Campbell.

Kelly Fink and Erin Duncklee joined their teammates to run to a

first in the medley relay.

The team’s next meet is scheduled for May 23 at Mount Si High

School beginning at 3:30 p.m. They will take on Chief Kanim again.
