Hawks fall to Issaquah

The Chief Kanim Middle School Hawk eighth-grade boys’ varsity basketball team traveled to Issaquah last week where they lost a tough game 65-70. The game was a shoot-out and up until halftime, it looked like the Hawks could win. Through the final half of the game, the Panthers took control and put the game out of reach late in the fourth quarter.

Tanner Riley led the offensive effort with 33 points followed by Lucas Zupan with 26 points and 13 rebounds. Aaron Moteului contributed nine rebounds, Danny Cavanaugh had four points and Rosco Castagno had two points.


Seventh-grade falls to Panthers

The Chief Kanim Middle School Hawk seventh-grade boys’ varsity basketball team traveled to Issaquah last week where they lost a hard-fought battle to the Panthers 22-27. The Hawks got off to a slow start and just couldn’t quite bounce back into the game. Ian Ilgenfritz led the effort with 11 points followed by Joe Farmer with eight. Cooper Helm had three points, Ryan Herman had three rebounds and Nate Sinner had three steals.


Hawks tie Surprise Lake

The Chief Kanim Middle School sixth-grade girls’ soccer team tied Surprise Lake last week 2-2. The girls kept the game close throughout the first half, staying within one point. The Hawks turned up the heat in the second half, keeping the ball on the offensive. Elisabeth Escobar scored late from Lauren Wood’s assist, ending the game in a tie. Leading the way for the Hawks with great offensive and defensive play was Krista Galloway, Maura Murphy, Shannon McEldowney, and Rory Newcomb. Arian Ensley added great defense in the sweeper position.
