The Mount Si Wildcats fast-pitch softball team had a busy week. First on their schedule was Newport.

Mount Si, Newport

The Wildcats’ game against Newport, despite the decent weather conditions, was postponed due to poor field conditions, although the field didn’t appear to be in bad shape. No makeup date has been announced.

Mount Si 4, Bellevue 0

Megan Alexander shut out the winless Wolverines on three hits, striking out five Bellevue hitters in the process. The Wildcats scored four runs in the final two innings to earn the victory. Alison Moorehead and Lauren Davis each had two hits to lead the Wildcats offensively.

Sammamish 5, Mount Si 3

The Totems’ Jami Lewis had the Wildcats befuddled through five innings, using good pitch location and defense to shut out Mount Si on three hits. She struck out eight.

Lewis added a pair of hits and a run to help the Totems pile up five runs over the course of the game against Alexander and fellow pitcher Moorehead, who started the game but was taken out in favor of Alexander in the fourth.

The Wildcats finally stopped Lewis in the bottom of the sixth, when Davis’ triple down the left-field line scored Alexander. Lewis was relieved in the seventh, and the Wildcats scored twice against her replacement. Amy Trenkamp’s single scored Sabrina Porterfield and Kayla Jayne. That was all, though, for the Wildcats, as the Totems picked up the win.

Wildcat coach Larry White was disappointed his team’s production came late after the Totems had scored five runs.

“We’re just waiting around too long to get things going,” he said. “But I got to believe that my team is getting better every day. When they start believing in each other, watch out. That’s when we’re going to start gelling.”
