Cedarcrest teams make top 10 at state

Cedarcrest High School's girls cross country squad finished in 9th place at the state championships Saturday, Nov. 7. and the boys squad did slightly better, finishing sixth in the tournament.

Cedarcrest High School’s girls cross country squad finished in 9th place at the state championships Saturday, Nov. 7. and the boys squad did slightly better, finishing sixth in the tournament.

For the boys, it was their second highest placing ever at state — they made third in 2013, said coach Bruce McDowell.

Top scorers for the girls in the meet were Alicia Krivanek in 19th, Madi Shinn in 44th, Lily Krueger in 72nd, Kate Vergillo in 88th and Mary Cate Babcock in 89th. The top boys were Ian Fay in 18th, Grant Van Valkenburg in 28th, Cameron Hammontree in 43rd, Ben Benson in 53rd and Vincent Dams in 92nd.
