The Mount Si Wildcat varsity wrestling team traveled to
Kennedy last Saturday for that school’s annual tournament. When the `Cats
finally left the gym, they had taken second, four points behind Kentlake.
Wrestling in the 103-pound class, Jordan Prior pinned his Federal
Way opponent at the 3:23 mark, lost to his Renton opponent, then went on to
pin two more wrestlers. He took third in the weight class. At 112-pounds,
Andrew Ahmadi took fourth place after winning two decisions, losing one
by decision and finally getting pinned by a Lewis and Clark wrestler.
In the 119-pound class, Jason Moe took fifth after winning two
decisions and losing two. State placer Ben Veyna took first in the 125-pound class,
racking up one pin and two decisions.
Mount Si’s Chad Mills took third in the 130-pound class after
winning two matches by decision and one by pin.
Blake Moore took second in the 135-pound class for Mount Si
after racking up a pin and decision. Hiram Tame took number one honors in
the 140-pound class after winning three decisions over opponents.
Teammate Payton Thompson took fifth in the 145-pound class and the
Wildcat’s Ryan Smith took fifth in the 152-pound class.
Kasey Robinson took fifth at 160-pounds while teammate
Jed McDaniels struggled in the 171- pound class.
In the 189-pound-class, big Brad Davis, the bruiser, took second,
eventually losing due to injury default. Sophomore Dylan Seubert took
first with two pins and a decision in the 215-pound class. Finally, in the
275-pound class, Sean Sexton racked up a second-place finish after
recording two pins, while teammate Brad Connor took third.
