Nursing home would close if budget passes

Letter to the editor.

I am employed at Mount Si Transitional Health Center in North Bend. I have worked at Mount Si since 1971. For many years I worked as a caregiver. For the last few years I have worked in the laundry. I love people and it is convenient for me as I don’t drive.

Gov. Locke has proposed a 15 percent reduction in reimbursement to long-term care. This reduction, if approved, would mean our nursing home could close down. Mount Si is the only nursing home in the Snoqualmie Valley. If we close down, where would our elderly go for 24-hour care? And what about those of us without jobs?

Without adequate funds we cannot provide the care these people need and deserve. It is a life-threatening situation.

Please each and everyone think about our elderly and give us your support.
