Keep Kim Horn on district school board

Letter to the Editor.

Please join Barbara and me in voting for Kim Horn for district 3 on the Snoqualmie school board this year. Kim brings a wealth of understanding and commitment to our district and deserves our support.

Kim was my replacement after 11 years on the school board. We have been a board that works by consensus and builds strong relationships with teachers, staff, parents and students. We have kept our focus on the important policy choices in education that will prepare our children for their road ahead. That has been our culture. For our efforts, we were honored by our peer organizations both nationally and statewide at a time when other districts in our area became bogged down in strife. Kim will keep us going in the right direction.

Kim brings classroom experience as a teacher to her position on the board, improving our district’s insight for what really matters in education. She worked as a board member to select our new superintendent. Choosing and keeping a good superintendent is the board’s most important duty. Having been part of the choice, Kim has a stake in the district’s success with our new superintendent, Joel Aune. He is one of the rising stars among superintendents statewide.

Kim has been a teacher in our district and has been active in “Voters for Excellence,” the Snoqualmie Schools Foundation, the Cascade View Elementary design team and the citizens’ planning committee for our 2003 bond election. With two young children, her heart will be in the right place with Snoqualmie Valley education for years to come.
