Endorsement list long for McGavick

Letter to the Editor

Many newspapers have seen the difference between the candidates in their interviews, so they have endorsed Mike McGavick for Senate. Mike is endorsed by the Seattle Times, King County Journal, Bellingham Herald, Yakima Herald-Republic, Spokane Spokesman-Review, Centralia Chronicle, Lynden Tribune and the Walla Walla Union-Bulletin.

I can see why as I have had the pleasure of working with Mike. Many have noted that he is a true leader with vision for this country. The King County Journal states, “Cantwell has had six years to make her mark in the other Washington, yet her influence and accomplishments, even among her freshmen Senate colleagues, are less than what we expect …” The Times, in its endorsement, acknowledges Mike’s history of tackling big problems, points out that he has run a clean campaign and concludes that Mike could be an “innovative and influential senator for Washington.”

I have seen him first hand working on problems, helping citizens in an open and transparent ways and making his views known on his Web site and in person, as well as in debates. He knows his way around D.C. as he worked there on Slade Gorton’s team.

He continues to be statesmanlike by keeping the campaign clean and elevating the rhetoric. I truly respect candidates who do not spin the truth or run negative ads. Citizens want elected officials they can respect. Mike has proven his skills and with our vote Nov. 7, he will indeed be our next influential senator.
