Paul Yarnton | Obituary

Paul Wilfred Yarnton passed away on August 16, 2023. He was born December 12, 1946, to Peter and Wilhelmina Lois Yarnton in Long Beach, California.

Paul is survived by his wife of 51 years Cynthia, son Brett, daughter Angeline, sister Cheryl Ann and grandchildren Ella and Tim. He is sorely missed by all his friends and extended family.

Paul grew up in Southern California loving the ocean and his lifelong hobbies of playing tennis, the piano, and studying music. In early adulthood, he worked for several years in LA Harbor as a deckhand and spent time in the Navy as a navigator.

Paul and Cynthia were married June 10, 1972, at St Peter’s Episcopal Church by their mentor and friend Father Harry Edwall and moved to WA state in 1980 to raise their family. Paul graduated from Fort Steilacoom College with a degree in electronics engineering and proceeded to travel the country with his job for Datatrol. Paul was very personable and naturally curious, making friends easily and truly enjoying traveling and all the opportunities presented in a career that included long stints in sales management, most notably in the sign industry.

Paul and Cynthia settled in the eastside of Seattle, living first for many years on the Samammish plateau before spending the last 25 years in North Bend WA. While living in North Bend, an especially important part of Paul’s life was participation in the community of St Clare’s Episcopal Church.

Paul had been a member and past president of Snoqualmie Valley Rotary as well as a past Senior Warden of St Clare’s. He loved performing both keyboard and vocals with the St Clare Singers.

Paul and Cynthia hiked and walked frequently and further loved their European travels to visit son Brett and wife Vera and their two grandchildren Ella and Tim in Vienna, Austria.

A memorial service is planned for October 28th, 2023 at St Clare’s Episcopal Church, Snoqualmie.
