SNOQUALMIE – Officials with the Professional Golfers’ Association (PGA) tour and Virginia Mason Medical Center will make an announcement this week regarding a possible PGA tour stop in the region.

According to a press release sent out earlier this week, the two organizations will hold a press conference on Aug. 11 announcing “exciting news.” Tod Leiweke, CEO of the Seattle Seahawks, and professional golfer Fuzzy Zoeller will also be present.

The Snoqualmie Ridge Golf Course has been a potential site for a PGA tour stop. The Jack Nicklaus-designed course is a TPC course that could host such an event.

PGA tour stops are sponsored by large organizations and event planners have been searching for such a sponsor and a time of year when a Northwest event could be held.

Officials from both the PGA Tour and Virginia Mason would not comment any further about the nature of the announcement.
