NORTH BEND – No arrests have been made as authorities are still investigating the July 30 sexual assault of a North Bend woman.

According to North Bend Police Chief Sgt. Joe Hodgson of the King County Sheriff’s Office, North Bend Substation, detectives continue to investigate a person of interest and conduct interviews while awaiting the results of lab tests.

Last month, a 30-year-old woman was sexually assaulted while sleeping next to her husband by an unknown man who climbed through her bedroom window.

According to King County Sheriff’s Office officials, the incident occurred at about 2 a.m. on July 30 in the northeast section of North Bend. The sexual assault occurred while the family was sleeping in their single-story house. Officials said the windows of the house were open due to the recent hot weather.

According to authorities the woman woke up, realized she was being assaulted and screamed. The noise awoke her husband who jumped out of bed as the suspect dove through the open window and escaped.

Responding units were on the scene within minutes of the incident, but the suspect was not found.

The suspect was described by the victims as possibly a 5-foot, 10-inch Native American male, about 25 years of age, who was wearing black shorts and had shoulder-length dark hair.
