Kyle Twede, owner of Twede’s Cafe, is looking for Valley residents with appetites — the bigger, the better.
Twede needs at least six four-person teams to take part in the hamburger eating contest, part of this year’s North Bend Centennial Block Party, slated for Saturday, June 27.

Greenway Days fest
set for June 20, 21
Valley residents can get outdoors to explore green spaces near where they live and work, during the two day Greenway Days festival.
The sixth annual celebration is Saturday and Sunday, June 20 and 21.
In more than 25 events in 10 communities over 100 miles along Interstate 90, residents and visitors will learn about the culture, history and recreation available in the Mountains to Sound Greenway.
Greenway Days celebrates the conservation and education efforts in the Greenway and the more-than 4,000 annual volunteers who give their time to enhance the it.
Greenway Days offers many group hikes, bike rides and community celebrations. Signature events include Greenway Geoteaming, a high-tech geocaching competition at scenic Rattlesnake Lake; Fenders on Front Street Car Show and Cruise, with more than 900 vintage and classic cars in downtown Issaquah; the Greenway Challenge, a summer-long event where participants take photographic proof of their visit to a list of Greenway sites for a chance to win great prizes; and the Mountains to Sound Relay, a multi-sport, 5-leg, 100 mile relay from Snoqualmie Pass to Golden Gardens Park in Seattle.
New this year, Greenway Days weekend will kick off Greenway Summer.
“Greenway Summer provides an easy way for people to learn of events occurring throughout the summer,” said Cynthia Welti, Executive Director of the Mountains to Sound Greenway Trust.
“Greenway Summer creates new opportunities for people to learn about the natural history, culture and recreation within the Mountains to Sound Greenway. We want area residents and visitors to understand and appreciate this wonderful landscape,” she said.
