For the second year, Transition Snoqualmie Valley will host a seed exchange and gathering to learn about growing food. The second annual seed exchange will be Saturday, Feb. 18, 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the second floor of the historic barn at Carnation Tree Farm, 31523 NE 40th St. Carnation.

All gardeners, of all experience levels, are welcome. The event is intended to build community and to increase local resilience and food security by promoting personal gardening. Visitors can pick up free seeds packaged for this year, as well as locally saved seeds. Gardeners can bring their own saved seeds to swap, if they have them, too. Seed catalogs will be available, and experienced gardeners will be on hand to offer advice and answer questions.

Visitors are encouraged to dress warmly, since the building is not heated.

Transition Snoqualmie Valley will also sponsor a free class on “Saving Seed From Your Home Garden” Saturday, Feb. 25 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., also in the Loft at the Carnation Tree Farm.
