SV Schools Foundation raises $63,000, names educators of year

The Snoqualmie Valley Schools Foundation hosted its annual Small Hands to Big Plans event on Wednesday, June 1, at Mount Si High School with 100 donors raising $63,000 towards the event’s $115,000 goal.

Funds from the event support the foundation’s district wide initiatives and classroom grant programs. Funds go towards college readiness programs including Advancement Via Individual Determination, Bridge to College and Seal of Bi-literacty. They will also provide resources for literacy programs, mental health education and STEM classes at the elementary level.

At the event, the foundation also announced the four educators of the year. The winners include:

  • Certified Staff: Robyn Kolke, Parent Partnership Program
  • Elementary: Laurie Fitzpatrick, Snoqualmie Elementary
  • Middle School: Karen Waters Brown, Twin Falls Middle
  • High School: Nick Viera, Mount Si High

“The Snoqualmie Valley Schools Foundation is grateful for such amazing community support and looks forward to having more people attend the event next year,” the foundation wrote in a press release.

The foundation has been funding classroom grants for over thirty years, funding a series of educational opportunities for students and professional development for teachers. To learn more about the programs the Foundation supports or to donate visit svsfoundation.org.
