Snoqualmie voters have one choice to make this fall in city council elections.

Terry Sorenson filed against Maria Henriksen for position 5 in the council’s sole contested race.

Henriksen is in her sixth year on the council. She was appointed to replace former councilman Jay Rodne following his successful bid for State Rep., then won a follow-up election four years ago.

Henriksen welcomes the race and discussion of the issues.

“It’s a great opportunity to be able to provide information and educate the public as to what the mayor and council have accomplished over the last few years,” she said.

Henriksen said it’s good to see residents come forward to seek active roles.

Given Snoqualmie’s growth, “it’s not a surprise people would want to get involved,” she said. “Frankly, I like seeing it.

Snoqualmie almost had two contested races this year.

Resident Cindy Deibler filed for candidacy and then withdrew from a race against position 1 councilman Bob Jeans.
