Snoqualmie Valley’s school board approved the 2009-2010 school year’s final budget, which includes significant cuts in services and staff due to the state’s budget crisis.

“We can expect to see a little larger class sizes across the board this year,” Superintendent Joel Aune said at the board’s meeting, Thursday, Aug. 27.

The district won’t know how much class sizes will be affected until it has accurate enrollment numbers, which are expected later in September.

The district expects to receive federal stimulus money worth between 1.5 and 2 percent of its total budget. However, that money will have conditions.

“If we don’t cross the T’s and dot the I’s, the money doesn’t come in,” said Ron Ellis, the district’s financial director.
