The city of Snoqualmie is sponsoring a storefront studio project with the University of Washington’s Department of Architecture for this spring. A meeting will be held at 2:30 p.m., Friday, April 1 at Snoqualmie City Hall, to introduce key community stakeholders to the students involved in the project.

Expected participants include the Salish Lodge, Northwest Railway Museum, Snoqualmie and Muckleshoot Tribes, Puget Sound Energy, Sigillo Cellars and the Chamber of Commerce. Members of the public are welcome to participate, too.

Storefront Studio was developed as a tool for architectural students to gain experience with actual clients and realistic budgets, while suggesting strategic architectural enhancements to existing community asset. Professor Jim Nicholls will direct and bring 10 graduating students in the University’s architecture program to the city to work directly with stakeholders.

“The Snoqualmie Storefront Studio is an exciting partnership and opportunity for the community to capture the existing character of Snoqualmie and complimentary new ideas in a published book with comments, photos, sketches, and other architectural exhibits,” said Mark Hofman, Community Development Director for the city.
