The Snoqualmie Community Pea Patch program provides gardening plots where residents can grow organic produce and flowers in the company of fellow gardeners.

The 2010 pea patch season has begun and will run through October 2.

Plots are available in two pea patch garden locations for Snoqualmie residents: Silva at 3862 Southeast Silva Street and Delurum at 7640 380th Street S.E.. Plots are six by 12 feet, or 72 square feet. Senior adults and persons with physical limitations will be assigned plots closer to water outlets whenever possible.

The cost for one plot is $25 for the entire season; two plots cost $45 total for the season.

The city of Snoqualmie provides water outlets. Gardeners need to bring their own tools, topsoil, and irrigation equipment (watering cans, hoses, or sprinklers). Free Fallsgro biosolids are available to use as topsoil and can be picked up at the Snoqualmie Water Reclamation Facility, 38190 Stearns Road off Tokul Road. Gardeners are encouraged to participate in the “Plant a Row for the Hungry” campaign and use one section of their plot to grow food for the Mount Si Helping Hand Food Bank.
