Area youths are getting in the water safely this summer, learning the basics of river safety thanks to the non-profit River Sense Project.

River Sense teaches youth to be aware of water features like tributaries, submerged or partially submerged obstacles called strainers, or dangers like leftover fishing line and steel logging cable. Swimmers learn how to stay away from them and what to do if you get caught on them.
