High school students will be manning the phones at Twin Falls Middle School during the evenings of Sept. 14 and 15 for the Snoqualmie Valley Schools Foundation’s first annual Phonathon. Phones will be ringing across the Valley to raise the funds needed to purchase hands-on science tools for every school in the district.

“More interactive science education will make a positive difference for the students in our schools,” said Joel Aune, superintendent of the Snoqualmie Valley School District. “If the foundation is able to raise the funding for us through this Phonathon, the district can purchase this essential equipment and get it into classrooms this fall.

“By using more interactive equipment and technologies, our students will have more opportunities to learn by ‘doing,’ which is much more effective and especially important in the discipline of science education,” Aune added.

“Without private funding, this equipment cannot be purchased this year,” said Carolyn Simpson, president of the Snoqualmie Valley Schools Foundation. “Our goal is to call over 4,000 homes. One hundred percent of the funds raised through this Phonathon will go into the classrooms.”
