    • More than 700 local wood and sawmill workers were still unsure of their fate early this week, with the chance of a strike still hanging over their heads. Late Monday night, a union official involved in contract negotiations announced that a tentative agreement had been reached. But Tuesday morning, a local union official said the settlement had not been reached.

    Business dispute: At 11:34 a.m., the owner of Absolute Auto Repair at Railroad Avenue Southeast called police after a customer become confrontational. The business owner told police that he did not want to work on the customer’s vehicles anymore. He believes the customer works on his vehicles at home, and when they fail to work correctly he brings them back. The owner asked that the customer be trespassed from his business. The officer completed a trespass warning letter and had the customer sign it.

    Lizzie Finnegan, a 2003 Mount Si High School graduate, received her diploma from the University of Southern California on Friday, May 16. Finnegan finished her coursework in December and graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in fine arts and a minor in computer animation. She is currently employed as a 3D artist and sound designer for Alelo Tactical Language Training, LLC., in Venice, California.Her parents are Harriet and Michael Finnegan of North Bend.
