Mount Si High School’s Science National Honor Society is organizing the first ever district-wide science fair. Around 500 entries are expected for the May 2nd event, according to organizer Chelsea Erlach, a senior at Mount Si. All Valley students — from kindergarten through grade 12 — are eligible to submit entries by the April 20th deadline.

For the high school’s chapter of the science honor society to belong to the national organization, it is required to host or judge a science fair each year. In February, Erlach helped start the district’s chapter — the first one in the state.

“We decided that it would be a more popular, exciting and worthwhile event if we were able to get every school involved,” Erlach wrote in an e-mail to the Valley Record.
